Pricing
You have probably noticed there are no prices listed for the items pictured on the website. That might seem annoying but the truth is, because everything we make is a one off piece, prices are quite variable. Some things we've made don't look like they should cost nearly as much as they do and some stuff looks like it should cost much more than our selling price. Some of the wood we get is very common, easy to work with, and very straight forward. Some of the woods are one of a kind pieces that have been miraculously transformed into something they were never meant to be. Guess which usually costs more?
We price our work on a number of factors:
1. How difficult was it to make something nice out of this piece of wood? How many intricate glue-ups and skilled man hours were required to make the piece? More effort usually means more costs.
2. How difficult was it to source the material? Maybe we found it sitting on the curb or maybe we had to travel to parts unknown and chainsaw blanks on a remote site.... We've done both and everything in between.
3. Is the end result something that is of the highest quality? Sometimes the stars align just right and we are able to make something truly brilliant, unique, funky, cool, and/or ridiculous that, quite frankly, not many other artists would be able to create. These pieces can come at a premium.
Many of the pieces that are featured on the website were given by us as gifts to friends or family on various occasions. Those items weren't sold, they were given away, so we can't really put a price tag on them.
We've sold writing implements that range from $20-$250. Bowls from $10-$300. Cutting boards and serving plates from $35-$250. We've rebuilt broken, junk vintage furniture we picked up at an estate sale for $5 that has been appraised at nearly $1000. It all depends....
If you think you might like us to make you something special, think about your budget first. Ballpark how much do you want to spend. Then we can talk you through the possibilities of what we can do near that price point. We ask that you trust us. That's a big ask these days, but we haven't had a disappointed customer yet, and the most common thing we hear when we deliver a product is - "Are you sure I'm paying you enough?"
And finally, we ask you to keep in mind what you are buying. Our products are honed with honest, handmade craftsmanship and artistry. Producing high quality, one-of-a-kind items you can't find at Williams-Sonoma, Crate and Barrel, or any other mall shop. There are no templates used nor any items made in batches to repeated dimensions. One thing at a time is how we do it. We think you'll appreciate the difference that makes.
